The Valley Forge Revolutionary 5-Mile Run registration is now open, and runners and walkers all over the world are invited to participate.

Organized by the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (VFTCB), event options are:

  • An in-person five-mile run or two-mile walk at Valley Forge National Historical Park (VFNHP) on Sunday, Apr. 16
  • A virtual five-mile run, completed at any location, during National Park Week, Apr. 16–23.

Event costs range $40–$50, with an option to make personal donations. All proceeds benefit Valley Forge National Historical Park.

Where the Funds Go

Since its inception in 2006, Rev Run has raised $550,000 for VFNHP infrastructure improvement projects and programming to enhance visitor experience.

Contributions from last year’s donation of $35,000 will be used for bottle-filling stations around VFNHP and new wayside interpretation panels for the Patriots of African Descent Monument.

Past projects funded by Rev Run proceeds include design of informational midway kiosks, Once Upon a Nation programming, storytelling benches, future maintenance needs of Sullivan’s Bridge, the newly renovated Grand Parade Trail Steuben Plaza area, and various trail connections.

The Virtual Version

The VFTCB first introduced the virtual component of the race in 2021, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past two years, runners and walkers from 24 different U.S. states and three countries have participated virtually. The event’s record-breaking registration sparked the idea to continue with the virtual option, which the VFTCB commits to maintain moving forward.

“We found such a strong passion within people who wanted to participate and support the Rev Run that we decided to continue offering the virtual option in addition to the in-person race this spring,” said Race Director Kirsten Tallman, “We look forward to continuing the conversations with our participants about the importance of Valley Forge’s story and how we can all play a part in the stewardship.”

Also Covered by the Registration Fee

Returning in 2023 are finisher medals for all participants.

In addition, registrants will receive a 2023 Revolutionary Run commemorative t-shirt and racing bib.

The top three male and female finishers of the in-person race will be awarded a cash prize from a purse totaling $1,400.

Sponsorships

Sponsorships are available starting at $250, with upgraded digital sponsorship opportunities via the VFTCB’s social media, website, and public relations efforts.

VFNHP has a significant economic impact on the region, generally contributing $36 million and several hundred jobs to the local economy.
