Philadelphia Ballet trustee and father Lloyd Freeman is promoting diversity and sharing one of his favorite shows, the Nutcracker, with other families through the “Daddy and Me” program.

Freeman is using the beloved holiday classic as a special way for dads to bond with their kids. The program offers discounted tickets to fathers and father figures so they could see the ballet with their children and enjoy its magic together.

One of the goals is to break the stigma that ballet is strictly for women.

“We wanted to come in and bring that diversified audience,” said Freeman, including more men and people of color.
