Norristown Municipal Council has granted final approval for large-scale development at the site of the former Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic High School, writes Rachel Ravina for The Times Herald.

Developer Sarah Peck aims to break ground on the 325-unit, multifamily residential complex, spread across 14.5 acres, in the spring.

“This corner is going to change Norristown,” former Councilwoman Valerie Moman said in May 2021. “We’ve been doing incremental steps to change Norristown. I believe this is going to be the driving force that busts Norristown wide open.”

“It’s a beautiful-looking project, and even if it’s a little bittersweet for me as a former Kennedy-Kenrick student, I know the property has been vacant for a very long time,” said Councilwoman Rebecca Smith.

Kennedy-Kenrick closed in June 2010.
