Flourtown resident and Comcast Executive Vice President Karen Dougherty Buchholz is the new board chair of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. She will succeed Nicholas DeBenedictis, who served as the chair for 18 years, according to FacilitiesOnline.com
Buchholz’ 20-year tenure at Comcast shows off her boundless experience with career achievements that include founding its first corporate communications infrastructure. Buchholz was also responsible for developing the Comcast Center and the Comcast Technology Center in Logan Square.
During her time at the telecommunications giant, she led the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts for almost a decade.
Buchholz serves on several other boards, including the Board of Directors Museum of American Revolution and the Board of Trustees at Drexel University.
She graduated from Dickinson College and has her master’s from Penn.
The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau is the city’s official tourism promotion agency. The nonprofit organization attracts tourism worldwide through the planning, booking and promotion of conferences and other major events.
