Community Health & Dental Care (CHDC) welcomes new dental provider, Minyong Chen, DMD to its Pottstown health center, 351 W. Schuylkill Road. Dr. Chen comes to CHDC as an experienced general dentistry provider treating patients of all ages.

Dr. Chen earned his both his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Temple University Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry and Bachelor of Science Biology from Temple University in Phila. In addition, Dr. Chen served as a volunteer with Mission of Mercy to provide a dental day of service providing free dental care for those in need. More than 1,700 people were served.

According to a former practice, Dr. Chen, born in China, moved to the U.S. when he was 10.

His patient roster there found him to be a beloved, friendly practitioner with full knowledge that patients who come to see him may not be altogether eager to do so. He responds with humor and empathy, making sure to explain procedures — especially to children — before setting forth.

Dr. Minyong Chen sees professional value in consistent reminders about good dental practices; therefore, he approaches patients (especially children) with the outlook of a gentle, warm, and caring teacher.

CHDC has qualified, caring staff to assist you and your family to become a patient of a true medical and dental home. Same day and integrated appointments are available to meet the scheduling needs of our patients and family members.

CHDC provides medical, dental, OBGYN, vision, podiatry, physical therapy, medication-assisted treatment (MAT),integrated behavioral health, care and case management, and free transportation to and from all CHDC health center locations in Pottstown and Barto.

The practice accepts most major commercial, Medicare and Medicare supplement plans and Fee for Service Medicaid and Managed Care Medicaid plans. It provides a healthcare discount for eligible uninsured and under-insured patients. For qualified patients receiving a 100 percent healthcare discount, the nominal fee for a medical/behavioral health/vision visit is $20, $35 for a dental visit, and $5 for a prescription. CHDC can offer the health care discount because it receives annual funding from a Federal partner, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), since 2012 as a designated Federally Qualified Health Center.
