Two Montgomery County companies are among the winners of the inaugural Fire Awards presented by the Philadelphia Business Journal, writes Lisa Dukart for the publication.

The awards aim to showcase the local businesses, institutions, and individuals who are “driving the region’s innovation scene forward.”

Harmony Biosciences in Plymouth Meeting and Ambler-based Phenom People represented Montco on the list of winners.

Harmony Biosciences went public two years ago and is already one of the Top 100 public companies in the region. The pharmaceutical company, led by CEO John Jacobs, nearly doubled its revenue in 2021 compared with the previous year to reach $305.44 million. Prior to going public, Harmony Biosciences raised $270 million to acquire Wakix, the only FDA-approved treatment for excessive daytime sleepiness that is not a scheduled controlled substance.

Meanwhile, Phenom People is a human resources technology firm that streamlines the hiring process for recruiters and candidates using an artificial intelligence-driven platform and machine learning. It was named one of the fastest-growing tech companies in 2021 by Deloitte after posting 519 percent revenue growth from 2017 to 2020. The company has more than a billion candidates in its system from 180 countries.
