Peddler’s Village in August: Peachy-Keen

Peach Month is a sweet reason to visit Peddler's Village this August.

This may come as a shock, but summer 2022 is elapsing. The time for outdoor fun is growing short, but fortunately, local event calendars are stocked, including Peddler’s Village’s, which is celebrating Peach Month.

Highlights of all things Prunus persica (the genus of a peach) are:

  • A sidewalk sale kickoff to the event (Aug. 5–7), with shopping galore (clothing, accessories, gifts, art, books, toys), live music, a beach party (Aug. 6), and plenty of peachy pleasures for purchase.
  • A Beach Blanket Bash (Aug. 6), where the 1960s return in all their Annette-and-Frankie retro glory. The Mojo Kings Dance Band will recreate those distinctive sounds of the era (minus the AM radio static), and visitors can enter the hula hoop contest or just kick back and roast s’mores over a fire pit.
  • The impressive sand sculptures that now dot the Lahaska tourism draw have been crafted by pros. But anyone can give his or her hand a trying this form of art at the Aug. 13–14 sand sculpture workshops. Time to update your artistic beach cred; those upside-down sand bucket turrets aren’t going to cut it anymore. That weekend also continues the Village’s entertainment roster: a murder mystery show and stand-up comedy nights.
  • Aug. 25 is Food Truck Thursday, with numerous top-notch vendors of mobile munchies onsite.

But the sweetest draw of all throughout August are the peaches. They’ll be front and center at the Village, fresh-picked and bundled into baskets, baked into pies, blended into butters, highlighted on restaurant menus, and whirled into specialty drinks.
