Doylestown Hospital's cardiovascular care record has earned it national recognition.

Doylestown Hospital continues to earn national recognition for quality and patient safety in the delivery of stroke and cardiovascular care. Its latest awards — issued jointly by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology — fall under two evaluative programs, Get with the Guidelines and Mission: Lifetime.

These initiatives recognize health systems across the nation that demonstrate commitment to the latest, research-based guidelines for heart disease and stroke. The goal is to save lives, shorten recovery times, and reduce hospital readmissions.

Doylestown Hospital qualified for the awards through a measurable improvement in care quality.

“These awards are the result of the uncompromising commitment to excellence of our physicians, nurses and technicians who strive daily to provide the best and safest care for our patients,” said Scott Levy, MD, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Doylestown Health.

“Doylestown Hospital is committed to improving care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines and streamlining processes to ensure timely and proper care for heart attacks and strokes. These guidelines require precision and coordination of the stroke, cardiovascular, emergency department, critical care, hospitalist, and pharmacy teams to deliver timely care and improved outcomes for our patients,” he explained.

This year, Doylestown Hospital received the following Get with the Guidelines Achievement Awards:

  • Stroke Gold Plus with Target Stroke Honor Roll Award
  • Heart Failure Gold Plus with Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll
  • Resuscitation Gold Award (Adult) for treating in-hospital cardiac arrest

For treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks, the healthcare system earned the following Mission: Lifetime awards:

  • STEMI Receiving Center — Gold
  • NSTEMI — Gold

From the American College of Cardiology:

  • NCDR Chest Pain — MI Registry 2022 Platinum Performance Achievement Award, a professional distinction earned by only 240 hospitals nationwide

“We are pleased to recognize Doylestown Hospital for its commitment to caring for those in their community who need cardiovascular care,” said John Warner, M.D., FAHA, past president of the American Heart Association and executive vice president for health system affairs at UT Southwestern Medical Center, in Dallas.

“Hospitals that follow the American Heart Association’s quality improvement protocols often see improved patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates – a win for health care systems, families, and communities.”
