Check out our favorite spring events to do this April, starting with conquering the Valley at the 16th Annual Rev Run!

For 15 years, the Valley Forge Revolutionary 5-Mile Run ® has been a unique challenge for runners of all skill levels. As the only 5k race to be held entirely in a US National Park, Rev Run allows participants to experience the majesty of Valley Forge National Historical Park while challenging their minds and body as they traverse the course.

Runners trek a five-mile, USAF-certified course that traverses the scenic Valley Forge National Historical Park. The 16th Annual Rev Run falls over National Park Week and all proceeds from the race go directly back into Valley Forge National Historical Park to enhance the visitor experience and support our local national treasure. Since its inception in 2006, Rev Run has raised $500,000 for Park infrastructure improvement projects and programming to enhance the visitor experience.

*In 2021 the we decided to make Rev Run virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Runners and walkers from 24 different U.S. states, Germany, and the Netherlands virtually. Due to record-breaking registration, virtual participation will remain an option moving forward. 

Trek the Trails

Montgomery County has a vast expanse of trails located in every corner of the county. Spanning over 90 miles through stunning scenery, small towns, and spacious valleys, biking in Montco is an easy and readily available activity for all. Whether you enjoy a solo ride, a trek for two, or taking the whole family on your next local adventure, there’s a perfect trail for everyone looking to take a bike ride or a lengthy walk in Montco.

Go Bird Watching

While it may not be the first place you’d think of, Montgomery County is a hot spot for bird watching and nature enthusiasts. The John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove is a haven for those looking to spend some time outdoors and studying the birds of North America, as originally chronicled by the famed naturalist, John James Audubon. 

Explore Our Main Streets

With temperatures reaching a comfortable degree, sunshine warming our backs, and the flowers in bloom, spring is a perfect time to get out and explore Montgomery County’s small towns and main streets. Our main streets boast a variety of unique things to do and places to see. Ranging from delicious cafes and restaurants, unique boutiques and shops, theatres, and much more, Montco’s Main streets are our best kept secret that we’re proud to share, anytime.

Explore the Gardens

What better time to get out and explore a gorgeous garden than the spring? Spring events start with Morris Arboretum is one of Montgomery County’s most stunning garden properties. The arboretum’s most notable features include a romantic 92-acre display garden featuring a formal rose garden, swan pond, glasshouse fernery, and colorful gardens. A permanent exhibit takes visitors 50 feet up into the treetops on a canopy walk that requires no climbing.

Get to the Green

More than 20 of Montco’s golf courses are open to the public and accommodate golfers of all skill levels and budgets. Visit Maccoby Run Golf Course to play 18 holes while taking in stunning views of lush forests and meadows, or enjoy the country club experience at Raven’s Claw Golf Club. More advanced golfers can put their skills to the test through the challenging courses at Westover Golf Club in Norristown.

In Montco, you’ll also find private golf courses offering an impressive array of amenities. Golf in style at the elegant Philadelphia Country Club, which dates back to 1890 and is one of the oldest courses in the country. Or enjoy a golf outing with the whole family at the Blue Bell Country Club, a premier family-friendly country club with an 18-hole course designed by legendary golfer Arnold Palmer himself, an on-site restaurant, and elegant event spaces.
