Retiring Veterinarian to Speak at Harcum College’s 106th Commencement on May 7

Almost 300 students will receive their diplomas at Harcum College’s 106th Commencement on Saturday, May 7.

Dr. Craig Wooters will give the commencement address. The event begins at 11 AM and will be held on the Great Lawn of the Academic Center, located at 750 Montgomery Avenue in Bryn Mawr. 

Dr. Wooters has served the Veterinary Nursing program since 1984 in several capacities, including as Program Veterinarian and professor. He is retiring this year. In 2018, he received the college’s highest faculty honor, the Philip Klein Award for excellence in teaching.

Alumni, colleagues, students, family, and friends made gifts to endow the Dr. Craig Wooters Scholarship for Veterinary Nursing students. A special reception to recognize him will occur later in the afternoon. 

Dr. Wooters holds a VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, an M.S. from the University of Delaware, where he majored in Animal Science and Agricultural Biochemistry, and a B.S., also from the University of Delaware, where he majored in Animal Science and Agricultural Biochemistry. 

Harcum College will confer the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science degrees at commencement and an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters to Wooters.  

Selected students and faculty will also be recognized at the event, including the winners of the Harcum Award, the Student Leadership Award, and the President’s Award for students. The Philip Klein Award for outstanding teaching is also included. The award is named for the former college president whose grandson, Alexander Klein, currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
