AmeriGas Propane, a subsidiary of King of Prussia-based UGI, has signed a multi-year agreement with Global Clean Energy Holdings to buy and distribute renewable liquid petroleum gas (LPG), writes Danielle Pesta for the LPGas Magazine.

As part of the deal, the California biorefinery will process up to 15,000 barrels of renewable feedstock per day to produce renewable fuels.

“Our investment in the Bakersfield biorefinery, coupled with AmeriGas’ footprint across the propane supply chain, is a powerful combination aimed at advancing the growth of the renewable fuels market in California and elsewhere,” said Richard Palmer, president and CEO of the company.

The biorefinery will start operations in the first six months of 2022 and is expected to produce around 13 million gallons of renewable LPG during its first year.

The deal makes AmeriGas the exclusive long-term buyer of renewable LPG from the biorefinery.

“We are thrilled to partner with Global Clean Energy Holdings to bring renewable LPG to customers in a rapidly developing market where there is strong demand for biofuels and a focus on environmentally sustainable energy solutions,” said Roger Perreault, president and CEO of UGI.
