Simply Good Jars Sees 1,200% Sales Jump, Negotiates Wawa Selling Power
Everything’s looking up for Simply Good Jars, the Philadelphia startup that offers pre-made salads.
Ever since they appeared in March on ABC’s ‘Shark Tank”, sales have grown a whopping 1,200%, writes Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.
Now they’re testing their product in select Wawa stores, 30 of them, actually, in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.
Before now, the jars were only available locally at Di Bruno Bros., La Colombe at Philadelphia International Airport, Saxby’s, and hospital cafeterias in the city.
CEO Jared Cannon founded Simply Good Jars in 2017.
When Cannon showed up on Shark Tank, he got a $500,000 joint deal with celebrity investors Lori Greiner and Mark Cuban. They got a 10% stake in the company.
Cannon believes his product fits in with Wawa’s customer base. He and Wawa have been in talks “on and off” for four years.
“A lot of people that have an affinity for our products we see as a pretty aligned Wawa customer and consumer,” Cannon said. “So we felt like there was a lot of alignment there. But we’re going to find out in real time here. We’re pretty enthusiastic that it’s going to perform.”
