Exton’s Ship Inn is Dry Docked, Goes Up for Sale at $2.25M

Michael Person, owner of the Ship Inn at 696 Lincoln Highway, Exton, has put the building housing the historic restaurant up for sale for 2.25 million. Natalie Kostelni dished the details for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Person is looking to sell the building, its liquor license, and inventory.

The 14,000-square-foot restaurant got a recent, high-profile do-over, thanks to Food Network’s Restaurant: Impossible in 2021.

The eatery saw its casual dining area and bar completely redesigned. Whitewashed floors replaced 1970s-era carpeting. The crew then installed sail-shaped white canvas wall dividers and polished brass fixtures to offset the calming blue palette. The tables were replaced with ones sporting sand-colored mottled marble surfaces. A dog-friendly patio was also added.

The site’s owner, Michael Person, operates the Duling-Kurtz House & Country Inn, which is also in Exton.

“My son works at the other restaurant and decided not to get involved with the Ship Inn, which is what I had hoped,” said Person.

According to Geoffrey Moody, the KW Commercial broker who has the listing, the market has recently opened up for these types of historic properties, especially those that are free-standing.
