Rosemont College President Jayson Boyers is ushering in major changes on the small campus in Bryn Mawr by doubling the size of freshmen class and expanding on-campus housing, writes Kennedy Rose for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

In the last five years, freshman enrollment at the school hovered between 70 and 90 students each year. In 2021, the school enrolled 148 students in its freshman class, and it is on track to top 175 students for the incoming freshman class.

This growth is the result of strategic partnerships, according to Boyers.

He and his team specifically targeted Catholic school students and adult learners as groups they knew would bring steady and long-term enrollment growth and retention to the school.

“You can buy all the leads you want,” said Boyers. “But if you don’t have good relationships, if you aren’t grounded with populations you feel like you can best serve, you may be able to do something once that boosts enrollment. But it won’t be repeated because it’s not authentic.”

One of these partnerships is with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, which cuts tuition in half for archdiocesan high school graduates.
