Lizzy McAlpine, a Lower Merion High School graduate, has unveiled her new song titled Doomsday and the accompanying video directed by Gus Black, writes Michael Major for the Broadway World.

The song is her first solo released this year and sets the stage for more songs to come.

“This song is about being in a relationship that is so toxic that you know it’s doomed and preparing yourself for that eventuality,” said McAlpine. “It’s heavy in funeral metaphors, because heartbreak to me is like a death and that’s where I got the concept for the skeleton look in the music video.”

It has also begun a new phase for both the young singer and songwriter and her sound, and is allowing her to “step into a more mature version of myself as an artist,” she added.

In addition, McAlpine confirmed an extensive run of North American tour dates with Dodie, which will kick off in early 2022. Among other venues, she will perform at Philadelphia’s The Fillmore.

McAlpine, who has been drawn to music since she was a child, rose to fame once she started sharing her original songs and covers on both Soundcloud and YouTube.
