Perkiomen Valley Brewery, in Green Lane, PA, was established in 2017 by owners Kelly and Tom Weiss as a way to provide job access for their sons, who are both on the autism spectrum, and other under-represented populations.

Their brewery not only crafts unique beers, but also offers fully accessible taprooms with an open floor plan, doorways wide enough to welcome every guest, and a wheelchair-accessible bar.

The event will also welcome Paralympian Rohan Murphy to share his inspiring story as the keynote speaker.

After losing his legs in childhood, Rohan overcame adversity to compete in wrestling at Pennsylvania State University and represent the United States in the Paralympic Games.

This time of year, many high school seniors have chosen the colleges they want to attend or the careers they’ll pursue after they graduate. Students with intellectual and developmental differences usually don’t experience senior year the same way. They face barriers to college. They have fewer opportunities in a workforce that doesn’t see their capabilities and embrace their differences.

Montgomery County non-profit Integrate for Good is working to change that by empowering students with intellectual differences to thrive and celebrating heroes in our community who do the same.

“We are deeply committed to highlighting the ability in disability that too often goes unrecognized or underestimated,” says Integrate for Good Founder and Executive Director Dr. Bev Weinberg. “We are incredibly grateful for the generous support of the businesses and individuals in our shared community making this evening, and this work possible. Together, we can create a community we can all be proud to call home, where opportunity isn’t just reserved for some of us, but for all of us.”

The Integrate for Good 2021 Community Heroes Gala will be held on Thursday, November 4, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Talamore Country Club in Ambler, PA. Proceeds from the event will support Integrate for Good’s Empowerment Lab.
