Haverford Jewelry Designer Demonstrated Integrity and Creativity During Pandemic, Among This Year’s ACE Heroes
Marlyn Schiff, a Haverford jewelry designer, has been recognized as this year’s Accessories Industry ACE Heroes by the New York-based Accessories Council, writes Elizabeth Wellington for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The organization usually honors innovative accessories brands and fashion icons at an ACE Awards dinner. But this year the focus has shifted to brands that made beautiful accessories and demonstrated integrity in difficult times.
In the last 19 months, Schiff has donated at least 50,000 surgical masks to hospitals along with tens of thousands of pieces of jewelry to essential workers through the Fill a Box, Send a Smile program she started.
She also holds fundraisers for breast cancer awareness and donates parts of the proceeds to breastcancer.org.
“I’m so very excited,” said Schiff. “Never did I think we would win. We learned so much from this experience. It wasn’t easy, but we rallied. Our customers rallied and we are the better for it now.”
Meanwhile, Qurate Retail Group, the West Chester-based parent company of QVC and HSN, was also recognized as ACE Heroes for its work with Meals on Wheels, the program that provides healthy meals for seniors and children facing food insecurity.
