Trina Cousar, a senior resident assistant at Brightview East Norriton, believes that her employer fully deserves the title of a great place to work, writes Jacquelyn Kung, Ed Frauenheim, and Great Place to Work for Fortune.

Thanks to Brightview’s collaborative and caring culture, Cousar always makes sure to go the extra step with residents.

This includes contacting the family of one of the new arrivals, Fran, who was not adjusting well and was refusing to leave her room. Once she found out from her relatives that she enjoyed tidying up and gardening, Cousar brought some clothes from the facility’s central laundry room and invited Fran to help her fold them outside.

“Fran looked at me, and she said, ‘Ok kid, come on—let’s go out,’” recalled Cousar. “You know what? She was out there in the garden all day.”

The proactivity and creativity Cousar exhibited encapsulate the philosophy at Brightview Senior Living. The company puts its associates first and entrusts them with providing a great experience for residents.

As a result, 85 percent of employees said they experience respect at work and 92 percent are proud they work there.
