“Satanic” Dress Code Ban Out at Rose Tree After Satanic Delco Campaign

By

Satanic Delco, an organized group of rebels known best for their local acts of charity, has talked the Rose Tree Media School District into changing its dress code that banned clothing or gear that was “satanic in nature,” writes Walter Perez for 6abc.com.

Rose Tree Media Superintendent Eleanor DiMarino-Linnen, Ph.D. agreed to remove the phrase from the dress code, even though “we have had no complaints or concerns brought forward by any student, parent or resident…”  she announced.

Satanic Delco does not worship Satan, according to its website but one of its tenets is that “the freedom of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend.”

“The idea that a public school would allow religious expression in school, but choose to single out and prohibit the expression of one specific religion obviously seemed like a problem for us,” said Joseph Rose, founder of Satanic Delco.

Villanova law professor Ann Juliano agreed the district made the right move since the potential was there for a religious belief issue.

Others aren’t so sure.

“I wouldn’t want a Satanic or cultish anything on clothing in schools,” said Lisa Cutrufello of Clifton Heights.
