Three decades ago, Katie Senay-Davis, a Chestnut Hill Hospital nurse, won a scholarship through the Steelers Run and Walk that helped her graduate from the University of Pennsylvania, writes Teresa Varley for the Steelers.

This year, Senay-Davis has returned to Pittsburgh to participate in the race in person with her family as a way of giving back and coming full circle, something she has done before as well.

“The scholarship afforded me the opportunity to go to college, the one that I really wanted to go to,” said Senay-Davis. “As I am older, and years after graduation, I have children that are starting the college journey. I realize even more now how much it meant to my family, and how that support of the community investing in the future is important.”

Senay-Davis has worked as a nurse for more than 25 years, but the pandemic has changed her role like nothing before.

“It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen,” she said. “My role is really more of a leadership and support to staff.”
