Barbara Osinski, a Manor College graduate, and her husband, Frank, a King of Prussia native and Villanova student, are still going strong after more than half a century together, writes Kellie Patrick Gates for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
When they first met, neither was interested in a serious relationship, but things did not work out exactly as planned.
They fell hard for each other and continued dating through Barbara’s studies and Frank’s Navy deployment to Vietnam on Intrepid.
They wrote to each other every day and she sent him her framed Manor College graduation picture.
And once he returned to the United States in 1966, Frank popped the question.
They married the following year and moved to Lansdale. Now they have three children but suffered an unimaginable loss when one died aged just five weeks.
However, they supported each other through work and education, and shared a lifetime of love.
They even donated a picture of Frank’s stateroom with Barbara’s picture to Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
“We went to the ceremony for the 75th anniversary of the Intrepid’s commissioning, and as we walked through, there was Barbara on display in the officer’s stateroom,” said Frank.
