The home was in move-in condition and the couple could see themselves and their then-four-year-old twins living there. They wanted to renovate the kitchen and create an owners’ suite, but knew they would get to that in time.

“We wanted something that wasn’t brand new but also something that wasn’t too cookie cutter,” said Carrie. “We wanted something large enough for us to grow into and be our forever home.”

They purchased the home and decorated it to look put together but at a reasonable cost since they had young children.

Several years later they renovated the kitchen, putting the priority on function – something former professional chef Derick insisted on.

They created a main suite three years ago, inspired by their trip to Italy, ensuring to include a refrigerator, coffee station, and heated floors.

They also added a sunroom with 19 windows next to their backyard pool.
