The ranking is based on the percentage of public schools within a county that have placed in the top ten percent of all schools in the state. The schools were ranked based on their combined math and reading proficiency test score ranking.
Montgomery County is one of the best counties for public schools in Pennsylvania, according to a newly released report by Public School Review.
Montgomery County ranked second, with 34 out of its 157 public schools—or 22 percent—having placed in the top ten percent statewide.
The schools in the county have an average math proficiency score of 57 percent, which is above the state public school average of 45 percent, and an average reading proficiency score of 73 percent.
This is also above the 62 percent statewide average.
So which public school is ranked highest in the county?
The highest-ranked school in the county is Lower Merion High School, which placed in the top one percent statewide at No. 25.
The highest-ranked school is followed by Harriton Senior High School, which came No. 28, and Lower Moreland High School at No. 29.
