August 26 COVID-19 Update: Over 300 New Cases Reported in Montgomery County in Two Days

Montgomery County reported 308 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last 2 days (August 25-26th) bringing the total number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases to 62,281 countywide since March 7, 2020.

There are currently 100 people hospitalized in Montgomery County hospitals due to severe COVID-19 symptoms. Of those COVID-19 patients, 7 people are on ventilators.

There are no new COVID-19 deaths reported in Montgomery County since August 25th, 2021.

The current total deaths are numbered at 1,339 in Montgomery County, since March 7, 2020.

Montco Vaccine Information

  • The COVID-19 vaccine is available for everyone age 16 and over who lives or works in Montgomery County, as well as the Pfizer vaccine for teens aged 12-15.

Pennsylvania Update of New Positive Cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 3,622 new positive cases of COVID-19 over the last week, bringing the statewide total to 1,281,199 cases.

There are 1,617 people currently hospitalized due to severe COVID-19 symptoms, with 462 of those people in intensive care.

As of Tuesday, August 24th, there were 33 new COVID-19 deaths reported across the state, bringing the State’s total death registry to 28,131.

Vaccine Highlights

Federal data representing all 67 counties:

·       According to the CDC, as of Wednesday, Aug. 25, Pennsylvania ranks 5th among all 50 states for total doses administered.

·       According to the CDC, as of Wednesday, Aug. 25, 65.1% of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated.

Statewide data representing the 66 counties within the Department of Health’s vaccine jurisdiction:

  • Pennsylvania’s vaccine dashboard was updated on Friday, July 9 to more accurately reflect the number of people who are partially and fully vaccinated in each county outside of Philadelphia, along with demographics of those receiving vaccine.
  • Vaccine providers have administered 12,060,033 total vaccine doses as of Wednesday, Aug. 25.
  • 5,902,230 people are fully vaccinated; with 10,115 vaccinations administered yesterday and a seven-day moving average of more than 17,380 people per day receiving vaccinations.

The department continues to urge Pennsylvanians to follow CDC guidance to wearing a mask where required by law, rules, and regulations, including healthcare, local business, and workplace guidance.

For the protection of themselves and others, individuals who have not yet been vaccinated or are partially vaccinated, are still encouraged to wear a mask when in public.

Stay well:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
  • Clean surfaces frequently.
  • Stay home to avoid spreading COVID-19, especially if you are unwell.
  • If you must go out, please wear a mask when in a business or where it is difficult to maintain proper social distancing.
