Ambler-based Phenom People has been helping companies find employees within the hiring process for a decade, but its mission seems especially important now, with many businesses are struggling to hire workers, writes Christine M. Johnson-Hall for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The international company uses artificial intelligence to streamline the hiring process by automating tasks and personalizing job searches. Its success over the past ten years has helped Phenom achieve “unicorn” status.

This happens when a startup is valued at more than $1 billion – a rare enough occurrence that this very exclusive club only has a little over 700 members worldwide.

Phenom crafts an experience based on communication and other preferences from each user. This makes it easier within the hiring process to match them with the right job, get a promotion, recruiters to discover talent, and for managers to build their teams faster.

Phenom People is led by brothers Mahe and Hari Bayireddi. It has 400 global clients, including Microsoft, Cigna, and Southwest Airlines.

Phenom has so far raised $161.4 million over five funding rounds and is now considering an IPO down the road.

“We are not predicting a time frame; however, we do see an IPO as part of our future,” said Mahe Bayireddi.
