WalletHub has released its report on 2021’s Best & Worst States for Working Dads, ranking Pennsylvania is in the middle of the pack.

To determine the best states for men who are both parents and providers, WalletHub compared the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia across four key dimensions, which were evaluated using 23 key indicators of friendliness toward working fathers.

Pennsylvania ranked at No. 24 overall, with its best showing being in the Economic & Social Well-Being category at No. 13. The Keystone State ranked at No. 25 in Health, No. 34 in Child Care, and No. 37 for Work-Life Balance.

In specific metrics, Pennsylvania came first in the unemployment rate for dads with underage kids and eleventh in the male uninsured rate.

Meanwhile, it ranked at No. 20 in the percentage of physically active men, No. 21 in day-care quality, No. 22 in the percentage of kids with dad present living in poverty, and No. 26 in the average length of the workday for men.

Finally, Pennsylvania came at No. 33 for male life expectancy and No. 34 in child-care costs.
