The JBS meat processing facility in Franconia Township resumed production on Thursday after having to shut down most of its operations due to a cyberattack earlier in the week, according to a staff report from The Times Herald.

The world’s largest meat processing company is headquartered in Greeley, Colorado, and employs 1,500 union workers in the Montgomery County plant.

According to Wendell Young IV, president of the UFCW Local 1776 Keystone State, the union was first notified Monday “that there had been an attack and that production would be halted on Tuesday.”

On Monday and Tuesday, only small crews were operating there performing maintenance, sanitation, and distribution efforts.

After a partial return to operations on Wednesday, the plant completely restored production on Thursday.

“Our systems are coming back online and we are not sparing any resources to fight this threat,” said Andre Nogueira, CEO of JBS USA.

All local employees will be paid for the time they were out in accordance with their contracts.

According to ransomware expert Allan Liska of Recorded Future, the attack on JBS was the largest cyberattack on a food manufacturer yet.
