Di Bruno Bros. has released a new wine made with help of Wayvine Winery & Vineyard in Nottingham, and sales will help fund spotted lanternfly research, writes Allie Miller for PhillyVoice.

Last week, the specialty food store introduced its second original wine in a collaborative series titled Di Bruno Bros. & Friends that launched in March.

Carmine rosé is a dry and unfiltered wine with notes of strawberry, nectarine, lilies, lemon-thyme, and dandelion. It’s being positioned as a refreshing summer sip.

Di Bruno Bros. said it will donate part of the proceeds from its new wine to Penn State’s spotted lanternfly research program.

Penn State researchers are examining and analyzing the invasive species that arrived in Pennsylvania seven years ago. Since the insect’s mating season coincides with the prime season for Carmine rosé, Di Bruno Bros. has linked the two. Wine aficionados can help the environment while enjoying the pink vintage.

“Drink great rosé to help stomp out these pests!” said the store.
