VFTCB Announces All-Female Flag Football Event Coming to Conshohocken This Summer
The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (VFTCB) and Flag Football Life announced an all-female-only flag football tournament coming to The Proving Grounds in Conshohocken in August.
The We Run the World Flag Football Tournament Aug. 14-15 will feature more than 45 youth female teams from 8u, 10u, 12u, 14u to 17u girls, 10-plus adult female five vs. five Non-Contact PRO women’s division teams, an National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Showcase on Friday night, three-pool play on Saturday, and single-elimination bracket on Sunday.
Open to the public with an anticipated 750 spectators, the event will take place on two full-size turf soccer fields, which equates to 8 five vs. five flag football fields, and include awards: finalist medals, championship rings, Most Valued Player, Coach accolades, and cash prize for women’s division.
“The Valley Forge Sports Commission and the VFTCB are so excited to welcome such a great opportunity to Montgomery County, PA,” said Jon Scheuren, Director of Sports. “This is a huge win for women in sports. And with outdoor fields and competition-level synthetic turf, The Proving Grounds is the premier Mid-Atlantic multi-sport tournament complex.”
The event expected positive economic impact from the event is more than $200,000.
Flag Football Life is a sports lifestyle brand that hosts leagues and tournaments throughout the east coast with a goal of putting on high-level events for athletes, according to Mike Reimel, Owner of Flag Football Life.
“We wanted to highlight women with their own event,” said Reimel. “The sport is continuously growing – now a collegiate sport for females at NAIA colleges, and a female-sanctioned high school sport in multiple sports – so we’re happy to be a part of it.”
