Encore Rides, a Doylestown guided bike tour business, considers community support so integral to its operations, it donates 15 percent of every tour fee to charity.

One recent outreach was to Healthlink Dental Clinic.

This nonprofit Southampton dentistry office offers free preventative and restorative care.

Its client list includes low-income workers and veterans in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.

The timing of the day of service was chosen strategically. Encore Rides owner Rick James scheduled it to coincide with the April beginning of bike-tour season.

HealthLink Dental Clinic reported the following results:

  • 18 walk-in patients received dental care;
  • 7 appointments are for cleanings. These are done by supervised dental students from Montgomery County Community College;
  • 11 patients underwent extractions, fillings, root canals and crown build-ups or insertions.

“We are thrilled to have the support of local business owners like Rick James,” commented Raquel Braemer, Executive Director at HealthLink.

“When we provide a dental home for vulnerable adults in our community, we are doing more than cleaning their teeth. HealthLink Dental Clinic can increase an individual’s confidence and employability. It can also reduce the likelihood of them having to visit the ER or miss work for mouth pain,” Raquel says.
