Montgomery County is lagging behind both Pennsylvania and national averages in its share of fully vaccinated residents, write Dan Keating, Naema Ahmed, Harry Stevens, Jessica Wolfrom, and Monica Ulmanu for The Washington Post.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that so far, Montgomery County has fully vaccinated 13.8 percent of its entire population. This is below the state average of 14.8 percent and the national average of 14.7 percent.

Compared to neighboring counties, Montgomery County is behind Chester County’s 14.6 percent and in line with Bucks County’s 13.8 percent.

In the adults 18 or older category, 17.5 percent of county residents are fully vaccinated. This is below the state average of 18.7 percent as well as the national average of 18.8 percent. It is also below Chester County’s 18.7 percent but above Bucks County’s 17.2 percent.

However, the difference is much starker for residents age 65 and older, where the county fully vaccinated 32.8 percent of people compared with the state’s 36.8 percent and the nation’s 45.9 percent. Chester County is also above the average at 37.5 percent while Bucks County remains below at 31.7 percent.
