Schuylkill River Trail is one of the nation’s ten greatest riverwalks, according to the new ranking recently published by USA Today 10Best.

The original list of 20 nominees was compiled by 10Best and a panel of urban planning experts. Then the public was asked to vote for their favorites.

Based on the readers’ choice, Schuylkill River Trail came third on the list, behind only first-placed Detroit International RiverWalk and second-placed Wilmington Riverwalk.

Stretching for over 75 miles, the Schuylkill River Trail runs alongside the revolutionary Schuylkill River and crosses five counties of historically rich Southeastern Pennsylvania, including Montgomery County.

One of the more notable sections is the 30-mile stretch that leads from Philadelphia to Parker Ford and then passes through Valley Forge National Historical Park along the way.

Among the many highlights is the Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk. Here, pedestrians and bicyclists can cross Schuylkill River and enjoy the skyline views from one of its four scenic overlooks.
