March 17th Update: PA Reports 3,119 New COVID-19 Cases; Over 68K Montgomery County Residents Fully Vaccinated

Montgomery County reported 148 new positive cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday, March 16th, 2021, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 48,664 countywide since March 7, 2020. We now have been tracking COVID-19 for a full year in our area, and across the state.

There are currently 110 people hospitalized in Montgomery County hospitals due to severe COVID-19 symptoms (an increase from last report). Of those COVID-19 patients, 5 are on ventilators, which is a decrease since the last report.

There are two new COVID-19 deaths reported in Montgomery County. The current total deaths are numbered at 1,244 in Montgomery County, since March 7, 2020.

Vaccine Information
Montgomery County has information to determine if you are eligible and to answer any questions you may have.

In Montgomery County, 110,623 people have been partially vaccinated, and 68,810 have been fully vaccinated.

In Pennsylvania, approximately 3,735,484 vaccines have been administered.

  • The Pennsylvania Department of Health has released a map that highlights all the locations that are providing the COVID-19 vaccine in Montgomery County to those who are eligible within the first phase of the state’s rollout plan.
  • Due to the limited supply of vaccine at this time, only people who qualify for Phase 1A will be given appointments.
  • Appointment slots are limited and are available by reservation only.
  • Walk-up registration is not accepted.

Pennsylvania COVID-19 Update:
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 3,119 new positive cases of COVID-19 on March 16th, 2021, bringing the statewide total to 970,717 cases.

There are 1,450 people currently hospitalized due to severe COVID-19 symptoms (a decrease from last report), with 286 of those people in intensive care, a decrease from last report.

There were 65 new COVID-19 deaths reported across the State (an increase from last report), bringing the State’s total death registry to 24,652.

Stay well:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
  • Clean surfaces frequently.
  • Stay home to avoid spreading COVID-19, especially if you are unwell.
  • If you must go out, you are required to wear a mask when in a business or where it is difficult to maintain proper social distancing.

COVID-19 Testing in Montgomery County
Montgomery County’s testing sites are by appointment only. Register online or call 610-970-2937, and are self-administered.

Additional Information
Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

COVID-19 contact tracing efforts are ongoing and are critical to slowing the spread of the disease. The County has partnered with ACLAMO, Family Services of Montgomery County, Montgomery County OIC, and Visiting Nurses Association Community Services to help with contact tracing efforts.

Individuals who have been tested or identified as a direct contact of an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 and has received a call from any of our community partners may return the call to 610.278.5923 to find out their results or status. All information discussed on the call is strictly confidential and is only used to trace COVID-19 cases.
