Despite Huge Challenges Brought on By Pandemic, Lansdale Restaurants Found Ways to Adapt and Survive in Year Like No Other

Despite huge challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic over the past year, Lansdale restaurants found ways to adapt and survive, writes Dan Soskil for The Reporter Online.

“In the very beginning, there was so much uncertainty,” said Michael Wister, owner of Wister’s Barbecue.

There was a point where he thought he would have to close. But when businesses started to reopen, so did his eatery – but as pickup only.

“We created our own little bubble for our employees, and the borough was awesome,” said Wister. “They gave us four parking spaces out front, which helped enormously.”

A year on, the restaurant is busy once again, creating food for takeout and delivery for regular customers who are endeavoring to support local businesses.

Boardroom Spirits spent most of their time devoted to making as much hand sanitizer as they could churn out.

Scott Rudich, owner of Round Guys Brewing, is also grateful for regulars who have helped him weather the storm by keeping the place busy.

The establishment benefited from having an outdoor patio, and now people are slowly returning inside.

There are “people that get comfortable as they’re vaccinated, so we’re trying to transform, and open up the space a little bit,” said Rudich.
