A group of local swimmers recently braved the extreme snowy winter weather and took to Fort Washington Swim Club’s outdoor pool to make sure they got their laps in, reports NBC10 Philadelphia.

“It’s fresh air, it’s actually nicer being outside,” said Laurie Hug, one of the brave participants.

The swimmers are members of Colonial 1776, a U.S. Masters swimming group.

When the pandemic started and indoor pools had to close, swim clubs with outdoor pools remained open. Once the summer was over, Fort Washington Swim Club decided to extend its usual hours into the fall.

The only thing that was missing was the heat, but this issue that was solved with the help of David Williamson, a swimmer and owner of his own pool business.

But with the current weather, it is now the temperature outside of the pool that is becoming the tricky part.

“I think it’s the most invigorating thing for those ten minutes when you get out of the pool,” said Williamson. “It really makes you feel alive when you feel those temps.”
