They kept circling back to this one Springfield house but it was always out of reach, writes Paul Jablow for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Danielle and Travis Meyer were living in a rented house in Morton for five years with their three children and wanted a house of their own.

They saw the perfect one a block away that was in their budget.

It needed work but they knew Travis’ brother, a contractor, could get the house in shape.

They put in a bid in May 2016. The bank raised the price.

A year later, the house was back on the market, $40,000 cheaper, but it was under contract.

Then, a month later, it wasn’t.  This time the Meyers purchase went through.

“I still couldn’t quite believe it. I knew the potential of the home. By the end of the summer, we had our final floor plan and ideas,” Danielle said.

The Meyer renovations gave the 1890 house four bedrooms, three baths, a new back deck, a revised front porch and a landscaped spacious back yard.

“We feel that we brought it back,” Danielle says. “Not just for us, but for the neighborhood.”
