Santa Claus will be visiting local malls this year despite the pandemic, but they will implement various precautionary measures to ensure everybody stays safe, writes Parija Kavilanz for CTV News.

Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust, owner of Plymouth Meeting and Willow Grove malls, will keep Santa behind plexiglass.

“It’s a plexiglass barrier and Santa in each of our locations will sit behind it,” said Heather Crowell, spokesperson for PREIT. “It will have a bench in front of it so kids can sit down and take a photo with Santa.”

Crowell added that the malls will also offer Zoom visits with Santa which families can enjoy from the comfort of their home. Instead of a photo, the families will receive a recording of their call with Santa.

Both in-person Santa visits and virtual meetups will require a reservation. Visitors to PREIT malls will also have to wear a mask, but children can remove it for their photo with Santa.

Meanwhile, Simon Property, owner of King of Prussia Mall, said Santa will also be coming to its malls but is yet to release any details on the restrictions that may be implemented.
