A Community of Love Saved Gilbertsville Teen’s Life After He Collapsed on a Delaware County Field
A lot of people did the right thing and that helped save the life of a young teen who collapsed on an Aston lacrosse field, says his father, speaking to Jim Melwert for kwynewsradio.radio.com.
Brendan Avvento, 14, of Gilbertsville, collapsed on the evening of July 14. Doctors believe he may have suffered a stroke.
A fast response from people at the scene, who performed CPR, may have broken up a clot in his brain and saved his life.
Brendan’s father, Scott Avvento, called his son’s survival “a miracle.”
Not only is he thankful for the people who helped at the field, he’s also grateful to the woman who works at MSI in Aston who stayed with Brendan’s mother, Heather, and prayed with her.
Then there’s the community members who started a T-shirt and sticker fundraiser for Brendan, #BStrong.
“The community has just been awesome, and there’s been nothing but love. When Brendan comes home, I am having a shindig. I am shutting down the neighborhood and inviting every single person everywhere. And to gain entry, ya gotta hug me. Cause I’m givin’ out hugs and we’re gonna celebrate,” he says.
