Two MCCC Employees to Be Recognized with 25th Annual YWCA Tribute to Exceptional Women Award
Two Montgomery County Community College employees will be recognized with the 25th annual YWCA Tribute to Exceptional Women award for their significant contributions to communities across Montgomery County.
Jacquelyn Jae Hively, a management instructor and tutor at MCCC’s West Campus in Pottstown, and Julie Lopez, a part-time Instructional Technology specialist at West Campus, are among the 36 women who will be honored during a virtual ceremony scheduled for June 22.
The event’s keynote speaker Alneasa Jordan will talk about “Finding your Purpose in the Midst of a Pandemic.” The in-person ceremony has been rescheduled for October 22 and will be held at Valley Forge Casino Resort.
Hively, who previously worked as the director of the adult literacy program at the YWCA Tri-County Area in Pottstown, was surprised and pleased to be nominated for the award.
“It is an honor to be recognized for exceptional effort and I love doing that with students,” she said. “It’s a joy.”
Lopez was nominated for her volunteer efforts in helping teach low-income residents how to use computers.
“I feel honored and grateful,” she said. “It’s nice to be recognized for reaching out and giving back to society.”
