Montgomery County May 15th COVID-19 Update
Based on the information found on state and county’s COVID-19 website and the Commissioner’s Thursday afternoon press conference, here is a snapshot of the spread of coronavirus across Montgomery County, the Delaware Valley, and Pennsylvania.
On Thursday, Montgomery County reported 143 new COVID-19 positive cases ranging in age from 14- to 99-years-old.

The 143 new cases, 77 of which were females, ranged in age from 14- to 99-years-old and came from 31 municipalities, one of which, Bryn Athyns, reported its first case.

The new positive cases bring the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 5,523 countywide, 2,896 of which are females, 2,589 are males.
The average age of individuals with COVID-19 across the county is 56.1 years-old with the youngest patient being a 1-month-old baby and a 110-year-old Abington man, the oldest.
Seventeen of the county’s 62 municipalities – Lower Merion (457), Cheltenham (444), Norristown (443), Springfield (436), Abington (368), Montgomeryville (183), Upper Moreland (171), Lower Providence (169), Upper Providence (168), Lansdale (142), Upper Dublin (137), Horsham (129), Whitemarsh (128), Upper Merion (128), Hatfield Township (120), Lower Gwynedd (118), and East Norriton (118) have 100 or more cases and collectively account for 69.8% of the positive coronavirus cases countywide..

The County continues to monitor the 75 Department of Health certified long-term care centers and approximately 550 congregant care facilities across Montgomery County for instances of COVID-19.
Of the 143 new COVID-19 cases reported by the county Thursday afternoon, 88 were residents of one of the 93 long-term care facilities in the county reporting at least one CIVID-19 case.
The 88 new cases bring the total number of long-term care facility cases to 2,207, 1,575 of which are residents and the balance individuals who work at a LTC facility in the county.
Eleven new coronavirus related death of individuals ranging in age from 54- to 97-years-old were reported in Montgomery County Wednesday. The new deaths brings the total COVID-19 death toll countywide to 464 individuals.

Three hundred and ninety-nine (88.8%) of Montgomery County’s 454 COVID-19 deaths were of individuals residing in 16 municipalities; Springfield Township (68), Lower Merion (47), Upper Providence (43), Abington (33), Upper Gwynedd (31), Cheltenham (27), Norristown (28), Montgomeryville (20), Horsham (18), Lower Gwynedd (17), Whitemarsh (13), Upper Moreland (12), Upper Dublin (11), Ambler (11), Towamencin (10) and Upper Merion (10).

The county’s COVID-19 death toll of 454 is 10.7% of the 4,218 deaths attributed to the coronavirus statewide.
The County’s 5,523 COVID-19 cases represent 9.3-percent of the 59,363 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases across Pennsylvania.
By comparison, as of noon Thursday when the state updated their coronavirus case count, with the exception of Philadelphia County with 15,624 COVID-19 positive cases and 1,000 deaths, neighboring and surrounding counties all report fewer positive coronavirus cases and deaths than Montgomery County’s tally:
