See How Pennsylvania Ranked Among States Where Social Distancing Is Most Difficult

While social distancing is the most effective way to slow the spread of coronavirus, it has also proven to be equally as stressful as it is necessary for many Americans. Around a third of the population said that the current crisis has negatively affected their mental health.

To determine where self-isolation is most difficult, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across three key dimensions: Social Environment, Time Spent on Social Activities, and Money Spent on Social Activities.

These were evaluated using 13 relevant metrics, ranging from whether residents have supportive relationships to how much consumers were spending on social activities before the pandemic.

Pennsylvania is in the lower half at No. 33.

The Keystone State has the hardest time in Time Spent on Social Activities category, where it ranked in the upper half at fourteenth place.

Meanwhile, Social Environment puts Pennsylvania in No. 33 and Money Spent on Social Activities much lower, at No. 40.

WalletHub also released a Social Distancing Survey, which showed that many people are using online shopping as a stress reliever and nearly half the population still ventures outside at least once a day.
