Coronavirus pandemic is forcing local couples to either postpone their long-planned and elaborate weddings or opt for much smaller affairs.

The coronavirus pandemic is forcing couples in Montgomery County to either postpone their long-planned and elaborate weddings or opt for a much smaller affair, writes Ellie Silverman for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Jeremy Howe and Meghan Sunzeri were supposed to get married on March 29 at William Penn Inn. They had even mailed out over 200 invitations to family and friends and had the rings engraved with the date.

But then the pandemic hit and the couple had to decide if they wanted to postpone the wedding or proceed as best they could, and chose the second option. So instead they got married in Collegeville, at the home of Howe’s aunt and uncle. Howe’s uncle performed the ceremony.

The whole situation “provided a lot of clarity as to what’s important,” said Howe. “We just want to be married. That is all that matters to us.”

Meanwhile, other couples are waiting a bit longer. Yori Cozen and Brad Hess were supposed to tie the knot at Talamore Country Club in Ambler next month. But being a health-care worker, Cozen saw this coming and realized they needed to reschedule until after the pandemic is over.
