Montgomery County COVID-19 Wednesday Morning Update – April 15th
Based on the information found on state and county’s COVID-19 website and the Commissioner’s Tuesday afternoon press conference, here is quick snapshot of the spread of coronavirus across Montgomery County, the Delaware Valley and Pennsylvania.
As of 10:00 AM Tuesday morning, Montgomery County reported 99 new COVID-19, down 9 cases from the 108 reported Monday.
The 109 new cases came from 30 municipalities, range in age from 11 to 97 years-old and fall in the following age brackets:
- 0 to 9 – 0
- 10 to 19 – 3
- 20 to 29 – 6
- 30 to 39 – 6
- 40 to 49 – 10
- 50 to 59 – 16
- 60 to 69 – 16
- 70 to 79 – 12
- 80 to 89 – 20
- 90 to 99 – 10
- 100 to 109 – 0
The 99 new positive cases brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 2,123 countywide.
Of those 2,123 confirmed cases, 986 are male, 1,107 are female.
The average age of individuals with COVID-19 across the county is 53.7 years-old with the youngest patient being a 1-month-old baby and a 110 year-old Abington man, the oldest.
Sixtyone of the county’s 62 municipalities are home to at least one individual with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. Of those 61 municipalities, only one, Bryn Athyn Borough in the county’s southeast corner, reports zero cases of COVID-19.

The County continues to monitor the 75 Department of Health certified long-term care centers and approximately 620 congregant care facilities across Montgomery County for instances of COVID-19. Of the 587 cases reported at one of these centers through Tuesday morning, 364 were residents and the balance, 223 cases, were of staff members of the care facility.
As of Tuesday afternoon, those facilities have the following number of cases
- 45 facilities with 1 to 5 cases
- 10 facilities with 6 to 10 cases
- 5 facilities with 11 to 15 cases
- 4 facilities with 16 to 20 cases
- 2 facilities with 21 to 25 cases
- 4 facilities with 26 to 30 cases
- 1 facility with 36 to 40 cases
- 1 facility with 41 to 45 cases
- 1 facilities with 51 to 55 cases
Eighteen new coronavirus related death of individuals were reported in Montgomery County on Tuesday.
Nearly 40-percent of Montgomery County’s 91 COVID-19 deaths are in two municipalities; Springfield Township with 26 deaths and Upper Gwynedd Township with 17.
Sixtyseven of the 109 COVID-19 deaths (61-percent) were residents or staff of the nearly 700 Montgomery County long-term care facilities.
The new deaths moves the County’s COVID-19 death toll to 109. Sixtyseven of the 109 COVID-19 deaths (61-percent) were residents or staff of the nearly 700 Montgomery County long-term care facilities.
The county’s COVID death toll is 18.7-percent of the 584 deaths attributed to the coronavirus statewide.
The County’s total number of reported cases represent 8.3-percent of the 25,345 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases across Pennsylvania.
By comparison, as of noon Tuesday when the state updated their coronavirus count, with the exception of Philadelphia County with 7,121 COVID-19 positive cases, neighboring and surrounding counties all have fewer positive coronavirus cases than does Montgomery County:
