The General restaurant in Lafayette Hill, which opened three years ago in the building that was home to the General Lafayette Inn for decades, closed its doors for good over the weekend, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The closure was confirmed by the establishment’s co-owner Bob Devine. He said that those who still had gift cards can redeem them at From the Boot locations in Ambler and Lafayette Hill, in which he also has a stake in.

As of now, the future of the property is unknown. Previously, the building was occupied by Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery. However, Devine and his business partner Nick Ciaffone have removed the brewing equipment that was used both by Barren Hill and the General Lafayette.

The shuttering of The General represents another in a line of recently announced closures. However, the number of newly opening restaurants both across the county and the region is offsetting these losses and is keeping the overall number of restaurants consistent
