With the last year placing Pottstown’s High Street back on the map, the town is expecting to see business pick up even more this year, writes Holly Harrar for the WFMZ.

In 2019, booming business created many new opportunities for developers, investors, and small businesses.

“People that have been here for quite a few years now and have just been waiting,” said Peggy Lee-Clarke, executive director of Pottstown Area Industrial Development. “I’ve been saying that it’s going to happen and guess what? It’s happening.”

Now, families who want to grab a bite to eat or find something to do have numerous options within walking distance of High Street alone. These include The Blue Elephant restaurant and The Alley, a beer garden featuring games and live music.

This influx of new businesses has also attracted many new faces to the town.

“All of these restaurants, food, entertainment spaces are where people are really able to come and enjoy the downtown,” said Lee-Clarke.

Thanks to the changes, new and old business owners are optimistic about the future.

“Pottstown’s going to shine in 2020,” said Randy Young, head brewer at J.J. Ratigan Brewing Company.
