After more than 130 years of providing funeral and burial services to the Jewish community in the Philadelphia area, Joseph Levine & Sons will now have a location in Montgomery County, writes Matt Silver for the Jewish Exponent.

The fifth-generation family business is set to open a Blue Bell location in the fall next year.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said Brian Levine, who owns and operates the business with two of his brothers. “This has been a project no less than 10 years in the making, and it took five years longer than expected.”

The move was welcomed by the local Jewish community, including Rabbi Gregory Marx of Congregation Beth Or in Maple Glen.

“Whenever a Jewish organization opens in our community, it strengthens us,” said Marx.

The new location will serve the sizable Jewish communities in Fort Washington, Dresher, Ambler, and Plymouth Meeting. And it will do so in a state-of-the-art setting, according to Jonathon Levine, another of the owner-operators.

“We’re going to use technology.  We’ll be able to webcast services live,” he said.
