Gwynedd University in Lower Gwynedd Township,is among the top 10 Philadelphia-area four-year colleges and universities with the highest enrollment growth over the last five years, writes Kennedy Rose for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

To compile the list, The Business Journal compared enrollment figures for the 25 largest four-year educational institutions in the region from fall 2018 – which is the most recent available data – to fall 2013.

According to the analysis, Gwynedd Mercy University came in fourth place with a 28.8 percent enrollment growth over the period. The school recorded an enrollment number of 2,371 in 2013, which rose to 3,056 for the last year.

Gwynedd Mercy University is also one of only six local schools to show double-digit percentage growth in the last five years.

The only educational institution that had triple-digit percentage growth over the same period is Philadelphia-based Thomas Jefferson University, which recorded a 113.2 percent growth in enrollments.

However, that number was given a boost by the institution’s merger with Philadelphia University two years ago. This provided Thomas Jefferson with an additional 3,000 students.
