After years of promoting comedy shows in major cities and local venues, Joel Richardson of SoulJoel Productions has decided to bring comedy to local fans with his own club in Royersford, writes Sharon Dougherty for The Interro Bang.
Richardson, who was promoting more than 200 shows in 21 states each year, decided to look at his customer base and realized that it would be a good idea to bring the shows to town instead.
His decision was helped by a friend who approached him about the possibility of opening a comedy club in Royersford.
He then introduced him to the president of the town council and the trio agreed they would ask people on Facebook if they would like a comedy club in town. It only took a day to get hundreds of yes votes.
The town helped further by providing a venue, and soon Soul Joel’s Comedy Club & Lounge had a home.
Now the club is off to a great start with a sold-out opening performance by Vic Henley and a first month packed with great headliners.
