Cultural consciousness, racial identity, communication styles, developing diverse employees, and other issues related to the contemporary workplace will be examined during an upcoming lecture event on Nov. 14 at Harcum College.

The lecture – entitled “Caring About Workforce Diversity & Inclusion” – is the second in a series of four called “Eye on Caring.” It begins at 4 PM in the Trout Library, is followed by an audience Q&A, and is free and open to the public.

Two organizational culture experts will give brief back-to-back presentations lasting 30 minutes each on topics integral to workforce diversity. Portia Hunt, Ph.D., is an expert in the areas of racial identity and intercultural communications. Brandi Baldwin, Ph.D., is the CEO of Millennial Ventures Holdings and teaches Management Communication at the Wharton School.

Hunt’s light-hearted presentation – called “Hidden in Plain Sight” – will discuss the interpersonal attitudes and the behaviors and rules between men and women and blacks and whites that can lead to conflicts between people in the workplace.

Baldwin’s hard-hitting mini-presentation – called “Engaging Diverse Millennial Professionals in 2020 and Beyond” – will break down what organizations can do to better recruit, manage, and develop diverse employees and bridge the gap with millennials, who are the most diverse generation in the world.
