The inaugural meeting of the 100 Women of Phoenixville – a group of dynamic women who want to make an immediate, direct, and positive impact on the greater Phoenixville community through the power of collective giving – was held this week at the Kimberton Inn.

Members of the 100 Women of Phoenixville have committed to gathering twice a year for one hour to hear five-minute presentations from three charities. After a vote, each member writes a $100 check to the winning charity.

Mom’s House, Inc. of Greater Philadelphia, which is located on Main Street in Phoenixville and has been in existence since 1987, received $12,000 in donations in one hour. Mom’s House provides a unique family support system of basic needs, including free childcare, for low-income, single parents while they are pursuing their full-time education and becoming independent members of society.

“Big things are happening in Phoenixville!” said Carol Buckwalter, the Vice President and Marketing Officer at Phoenixville Federal Bank & Trust, who co-founded the 100 Women of Phoenixville. “When Dodi Strunk and I starting planning about a year ago, we believed there could be enough interest in this very simple, yet dynamic concept. And we were right! The energy in the room on Tuesday night was phenomenal and the response was so positive. We are already looking forward to our next meeting in May of 2020.”
